What is a hotel virtual tour?
A hotel virtual tour is made by linking 360-degree panoramas shot from selected points inside the hotel. At one point you turn around; you click on a door and move to the next room. It is not a game; it is real, recorded imagery.
How it differs from a photo
A photo is a choice. The photographer chooses the frame, the angle and the time of day. A wide-angle lens can make a 14 m² room look like 20 m². A virtual tour has no such choice: you turn around, you see the view from the window, you open the bathroom door. That is why a virtual tour is harder work for a hotel than photos, but more honest.
What changes for travelers
Three things: expectations are set correctly, decisions come faster and there are fewer regrets. The difference is biggest for rooms with a complex layout, such as family rooms, suites and bungalows. You can try this yourself in the tours of the 75 hotels on this site.
What changes for hotels
Booking site commissions are high. A hotel that takes bookings on its own website does not pay them. A virtual tour helps visitors to your own website decide without leaving. Details: the why a virtual tour page.
The technical side in brief
The shoot uses a special panoramic head; several frames are taken at each point and stitched together. The points are linked with arrows, and the areas are placed in a menu. The tour opens in the browser; no app is needed. If you are curious about the process, it is explained on the 360-degree virtual tour photography page, and the virtual tour FAQ section answers your questions.
Frequently asked questions
What is a hotel virtual tour?
It is an explorable presentation made by linking 360-degree panoramas shot from selected points inside the hotel. At each point you can turn around and look up at the ceiling and down at the floor.
How is a virtual tour different from a photo?
A photo is a chosen frame; a wide-angle lens can make a room look bigger than it is. A virtual tour has no frame, and there is no direction the camera does not see.
Do I need an app to view a virtual tour?
No. It opens in the browser. It works on phones, tablets and computers.
How do I get a virtual tour for my hotel?
The G360 team does the shoot. An average hotel takes one day to shoot, and the tour goes live within a few days.
How up to date are the tours?
Shoot dates vary. If a hotel has had a major renovation, we reshoot the tour. If you see a tour that looks out of date, write to us.
Can I see hotel prices here?
No. This is a tour directory, not a booking site.
